Thank You Senior Aerospace Ketema Division!

The cadets get a brief about the Aerospace before taking the tour.

San Diego Orietation Trip (Day 6)

Cadets get a brief about the Pacific Beacon before touring.

Hello cadet Petty Officer Hannah Ford here blogging on our last night in San Diego. Today was a great day! We began by touring the Pacific Becan Barracks on the same base we are staying at. They were so nice! They had over 1,000 rooms! After the tour we finally hit the beach! All of the Cadets were so excited! Gy Sgt Smith BBQ'd some hamburgers and hotdogs for noon chow. The cadets spend almost the rest of the day hanging out at the beach! All of the cadets are now packing their bags and are ready to head home in the morning to see their families!

San Diego Orientation Trip (Day 5)

Today our unit toured the aerospace facility in which Gy Sgt worked, and climbed Iron Mountain. This Aerospace facility we toured was a trove of knowledge. For example, we learned all about jet engine propulsion manufacture of parts and quality inspection. Next we embarked on Iron Mountain. The 3 mile, steep incline journey was both exhausting and perilous. Standing at the peak gave all cadets who made it a huge sense of accomplishment. After that, we went to see a Padres vs. Phillies baseball game. The Phillies scored 3 runs in the first couple of innings and maintained that lead until the end and won. –Glenn Lianoz

San Diego Orientation Trip (Day 4)

The Cadets enjoyed Sea World today!

Hello there, this is Cadet Ensign Nichols and LTJG Tulmau, today is 20th of April 2011. Today Cadets had the fun opportunity to be able to go to San Diego Sea World. This morning 6 of our Cadets were able to go to the gym with Capt. Neeson and worked out for about an hour. At 0700 the cadets were out and ready to got for chow. After chow the cadets had a couple hours of down time before we went to Sea World. At 0900 we prepared ourselves and moved out to San Diego Sea World. We had a lot of fun with rides, shows, games, stores, and many more wet and cool things.

San Diego Orientation Trip (Day 3)

"Hello this is Lt. Junior Grade Ryan Comer. The day started off with an excellent breakfast in our base’s chow hall. After eating we hopped into the vehicles to drive over to the base’s harbor for a tour of the USS Kidd. Everybody had plenty of questions for the tour crew and they all learned facts about the ship that they were interested in. After the completion of our tour, the cadets gathered into the vehicles to return to our barrack’s to change into our civilian clothes and prepare for our trip to Old Town, San Diego. The cadets cruised about the streets checking out all the stores for souvenirs and other gifts for themselves and family members. Afterwards we returned to our barracks for evening chow and then to our rooms to hang out and decompress from the excitingly eventful day.”—Ryan Comer

San Diego Orientation Trip (Day 2)

On base Miramar, at the ISMT the cadets gather around to learn about the M16, A4, and the M9 Baretta hand gun.

After shooting, the cadets got to see their targets, Ryan Comer and gotten the highest score.

After the ISMT the Public Affairs Officer took the cadets to Naval Aviation Water Survival Station.

Cadet Trevor Carlin got to try out the F-18 Flight Simulator.

Hello this is Cadet Ensign Dillon Graben. Today was a really successful day. We toured a lot on base Miramar. The first thing we did was the ISMT (Indoor Stimulated Marksmanship Training). Next, we toured water survival for all pilots of the USMC. Afterwards the whole unit went to go see the C130, where all the crew came out and explained their jobs.  The cadets asked many questions, got to view the cockpit (the control system of the plane), and they got to view the cargo hold. Cadets got to see the FA18 and the NV22. To end the day the cadets got to relax by going to the gym and pool to have some fun. Now back at the barracks preparing for tomorrow. –Dillon Graben

Hey, Cadet Trevor Carlin and William Bond here. Today was a blast! We went to chow at 0700 where we began our day. After that we departed for the Spring Valley Swap Meet. It is a big parking lot filled with all kinds of valuables sold by 100’s of veneers. We were able to buy many name brand clothes, and many other things we were interested in for a major discounted price. Afterwards we went and had chow at Sombreros Mexican Restaurant. We all ate amazing burritos. The final place we drove to was the West Field Mall, where we looked around in various stores, shopped and ate.  Now we are off to bed, needing to get some rest before tomorrow’s activities. –Trevor Carlin and William Bond
